Learning About Careers in the Hospitality Industry
JFK's Career and Technical Education (CTE) students under the Guam Community College's Secondary Programs learned about different careers during the school's Career Fair held April 16 & 17, 2013 at the school campus. Industry representatives were invited to speak to students about their careers and the industry's current marketplace. Hotel Nikko Guam makes a special presentation to the Tourism Academy
Hotel Nikko Guam made a special presentation to the JFK Tourism Academy on January 25, 2013. A $500 donation was given to the Academy for assisting with the hotel's employee appreciation party held in December 2012. Students in their second year of the Lodging Management Program and ProStart assisted with banquet services and kitchen services during the event. Thank you Hotel Nikko Guam!
Chili's Restaurant Manager Speaks to LMP III students
Chili's Guam Restaurant General Manager AJ Zapatos gave a PowerPoint presentation to the Lodging Management Program III students on December 18, 2012.
The specific topics presented were:
- Job descriptions of common food & beverage staff positions such as servers, bus persons, hosts, cashiers and dining room managers
- Menu types
- Typical pre-shift meeting
- Handling guest complaints
- Team approach to service
- Guests with a disability
- Drinking laws on Guam
- Operational procedures when serving alcohol
